Top Sightseeing & Day Trips in Luxor
Luxor is often called the world’s greatest open-air museum. The city is split into the East Bank (where the living and the sun rise) and the West Bank (where the dead were buried).
West Bank Tours

Temple of Hatshepsut (Deir el-Bahari): A stunning, unique terraced temple dedicated to Egypt’s most famous female pharaoh.

Colossi of Memnon: Two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood guarding the Theban Necropolis for over 3,400 years.
Valley of the Queens & Medinet Habu: Great alternatives to avoid the main crowds, featuring the breathtaking tomb of Queen Nefertari.
East Bank Tours
Karnak Temple Complex: The largest religious complex ever built, famous for its massive Hypostyle Hall with 134 giant columns.
Luxor Temple: Located right in the heart of the city, this temple looks spectacular when illuminated at night.

Hot Air Balloon Ride: A must-do early morning activity that offers a breathtaking sunrise view over the West Bank temples and the Nile.

Top Sightseeing & Day Trips in Aswan
Aswan offers a more laid-back vibe with stunning Nubian culture and beautiful Nile landscapes.

The High Dam: A modern engineering marvel built in the 1960s that created Lake Nasser.
The Unfinished Obelisk: A glance into ancient stone-quarrying techniques, showing how massive monuments were carved directly out of bedrock.

These destinations are usually booked as day excursions from either city.
Abu Simbel Temples (From Aswan): A 3-hour drive or short flight south of Aswan. These massive rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari are an absolute must-see.
Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples (Between Luxor & Aswan): Usually visited while traveling between the two cities. Edfu is dedicated to Horus (The Falcon God), and Kom Ombo is a unique double temple shared by Horus and Sobek (The Crocodile God).
Dendera and Abydos (From Luxor): Day trips heading north of Luxor to see some of the most well-preserved and colorful zodiac ceilings and ancient reliefs in Egypt.
